PUPPY DEVELOPMENT WITH PURPOSE
The early weeks are an opportunity to build a foundation for the dog your puppy is becoming. At Alpha K9 USA, we consider temperament, confidence and individual progress alongside the life the puppy is being prepared to enter.
Clients can choose an optional development program beginning at eight weeks and continuing through sixteen weeks. David Cohen personally oversees the program, with each puppy's development shaped around its readiness and your goals.
A FOUNDATION THAT STARTS BEFORE EIGHT WEEKS
Our breeding program includes early handling, socialization and suitable environmental experiences. Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Scent Introduction are part of the early-development approach described on our site.
These experiences form part of a wider program. We pay attention to the puppy's responses and development rather than treating any one exercise as a guarantee of its future temperament or working ability.
THE OPTIONAL 8–16 WEEK PROGRAM
Continued development gives an Alpha K9 USA puppy more time to build skills before joining its new home. Work may include engagement, obedience foundations, crate and potty routines, problem-solving and gradual exposure to everyday environments.
For appropriate prospects, foundations connected to retrieving, scent work or other future working interests may also be introduced. Selection and progression depend on the individual puppy.
The program is individualized. Two puppies of the same age may need different experiences, and their progress should guide the next step.
CONFIDENCE, CONTROL AND THE ABILITY TO SETTLE
We want puppies to explore, engage and recover their focus. We also want them to learn that they can be calm around ordinary activity.
A strong foundation includes more than enthusiasm. It includes manageable behavior, a developing relationship with the handler and the capacity to shift from activity to rest. These qualities matter for companions as well as future working prospects.
PREPARING FOR YOUR HOME
Tell us about the environment your puppy will enter. Children, other dogs, livestock, travel, outdoor activities and the rhythm of your household can all influence the preparation you want to discuss.
We use that conversation to help connect the puppy's development with your expectations. Continued training and consistent handling at home remain part of the puppy's progress as it matures.
CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT BEYOND SIXTEEN WEEKS
Selected puppies may remain in the program for further development before joining their homes. Contact David to discuss the individual puppy, your goals and the appropriate next stage.
